Eldridges Festive tour supports local charities

Eldridges, solicitors with offices in Newport and Freshwater, organised a tour of the east wight for clients and industry colleagues to celebrate the festive season and 2015. The aim was to celebrate the best of the Island's local food and drink producers, whilst raising money for local charity Beaulieu Respite Centre.

In December, the party set off from Newport on board a classic Bedford coach, from local company Vintage Tours, that first saw service in 1937. The first brunch stop was at Breeze, Island Harbour where the group was met by Dan from Island Roasted coffee and a traditional English breakfast using local produce.

"We are one of the Isle of Wight's longest established firms and many of our clients are involved in rurual and farming business. We took the opportunity to support the Wight Marque at the 2015 Royal Isle of Wight County Show, which is a great showcase for local produce. Our festive tour seemed to be a great way to continue this support, whilst raising money for Beaulieu," commented Eldridges partner Laura Rhodes.

The events also included a tour of the new Isle of Wight Distillery site based at Rosemary Vineyard where guests were invited to taste gin and tonics, Rock Sea vodka and even the Distillery's own Apple Pie Moonshine. Followed by lunch and a tour at Brading Roman Villa, the group moved on to The Seaview Hotel where they were treated to a local produce showcase. Goddards Brewery supplied the beer, the Isle of Wight Cheese Co supplied the cheese and biscuits and Fiona from Pink's supplied some of her chutney's and pestos to try.

Chocolate Apothecary provided some well-earned hot chocolate and a relaxing stop-off before returning to The Bargeman's Rest.

Beaulieu Respite is a local charity dedicated to supporting Island children with severe disabilities and their families. "Support such as this enables us to continue to provide extra equipment and outings which the children and their families so enjoy," says Jane Legg of Beaulieu Respite.
